It’s been nearly 31 years since The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air first aired and became a cultural phenomenon. Will the reboot be able to capture the same magic? Let’s explore what we know so far about this new show before it premieres!
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is one of those rare shows that has transcended generations, always remaining fresh and relevant to each era. It originally aired from 1990 to 1996 and graced a global presence.
When it ended in 1996, there was no doubt that fans would want more; however, the cast had grown up, like most of us who remember the show. There were talks about rebooting The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air for years, but it wasn’t until recently that the show finally got the go-ahead.
The Fresh Prince tells the story of Will, a smart and street-savvy teenager from West Philadelphia who is sent to live with his wealthy relatives in their Bel Air mansion. During his time there, he has many hilarious interactions with the family butler Carlton Banks (Alfonso Ribeiro), Will’s cousin Ashley (Tatyana Ali), and of course the family patriarch Uncle Phil (James Avery) – RIP Uncle Phil!. Even hip-hop superstar DJ Jazzy Jeff (Jeff Townes) gets in on the action.
The most popular pastime of the show is the fresh prince of bel air lyrics, it captivates the scene of why he was sent away to live with his relatives. In the reboot, it is reported the show’s new theme will focus on a different style, including conflicts, new emotional scenes yet still trying to retain some of the swagger the original show had, it fully has the backing of Will Smith and I’m sure Jabari Banks will fill the shoes of Will perfectly.
Jabari Banks is an American actor and he has also appeared in several other TV shows and films, including NCIS: Los Angeles, Criminal Minds, and The Unauthorized Beverly Hills, 90210 Story.
What do you feel about the reboot? Should it be bought to life again? or perhaps left where it is, to be part of a scene that made TV history… leave a comment below to let us know!
